VEKA Strategy Team Volunteers In Support of World Vision
July 27, 2016 by VEKA Inc
Members of VEKA's management team participated in a three-day off-site event in Pittsburgh, PA for their Strategy Team meeting which has become a tradition at mid-year point for the last six years. The event establishes the strategic roadmap for the Fombell, PA headquartered supplier of vinyl window and door profile solutions. Creating growth by being our customers’ Partner of Choice was the meeting's key theme.
A highlight of this year's meeting was a team-building segment where 24 VEKA management members volunteered at the World Vision complex in Sewickley, PA. World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. This charitable organization works with nearly 100 countries, serving all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. For over eight years, World Vision has been working with AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) as their charity partner.
Four tasks were set for the VEKA volunteers at the World Vision warehouse: sorting and packing articles of clothing to be shipped to other countries, hanging OSB panels as improvements to the warehouse and painting the finished walls. Finally, installation of a deck and pergola, using VEKA Outdoor Living Products material, for the employees of World Vision to enjoy during break time.
Joe Peilert, VEKA North America CEO, kicked off the day, commenting "It's great to start our strategy meeting by focusing on something greater than our company, our departments and ourselves. World Vision is a difference maker for people in need around the globe, we are proud to make a small contribution to this effort today."
At the end of the day with all tasks successfully completed, Mary Garcia, Corporate Engagement Director for World Vision thanked the VEKA team: "I have to say that today is not only one of the biggest highlights of my week, but in my tenure with World Vision, has there been a group that come in to volunteer who left behind improvements for our facility and a gift for our enjoyment. Our hope is that your staff enjoyed being here as much as we enjoyed having you."
