Looking back at the past thirty-two years, VEKA has played an integral part in the growth of the vinyl window and door industry in the United States. Over the past 20 years, this has never been more evident than in the West due to explosive housing growth on the West Coast. VEKA's family ownership took an educated gamble and with pioneering spirit and foresight, saw the opportunities in the Western US in the early 90's.
In 1995, a 160,000 square foot extrusion facility opened in Reno, Nevada, at the beginning of the new construction boom in California. VEKA had a small customer base and knew that a presence was necessary to both maintain and grow business west of the Mississippi. Key accounts in California and Western Canada led to early success for VEKA while it's eastern headquarters was experiencing tremendous growth due to the successes of the replacement/remodel markets.
At the top of VEKA's list of accomplishments over the past thirty-two years, is the success of the West Coast customer base and the relationships that have been formed. President and CEO, Joe Peilert comments, "In the last 20 years, we have seen other extruders come and go in Reno. Throughout that period, we have continued to invest to help our customers and employees become successful. That goal hasn't changed - it's what motivates us going forward."
Go west young man isn't just a phrase; it truly was a reality and a new frontier for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, Lex Winans, Western Regional Sales Manager for VEKA. "The relationships and history we have with our customers is something that we cherish and it keeps us motivated every day. Somehow, twenty years at VEKA West has passed me by. For me, the most endearing part of being with VEKA all this time is the people. At West, employees hired in 1995 are still with us and have unparalleled pride in this company and the drive to help our family of customers to grow and excel. As far as the customers, I have been fortunate enough to have shared a journey with many people for over 20 years, through the good times and bad, in some cases, their families as well."
There is one thing that has remained true for VEKA whether in the north, south, east or west over the past thirty-two years; relationships are built on trust, pride, passion and a pure desire to help others succeed while building the future. And that is something that VEKA will continue to value as it builds that future and strives to be the partner of choice for its customers.
VEKA is a world leader in PVC extrusion technology with 18 plants worldwide and is headquartered in Sendenhorst, Germany. VEKA Inc., based in Fombell, Pennsylvania, is corporate headquarters for North America and heads up three manufacturing facilities as well as various product divisions.
